Online Application Instructions for the 2026 Joe Tsai Basketball Scholarship
The Joe Tsai Basketball Scholarship is a philanthropic program initiated and established by Mr. Joe Tsai, Co-founder and Chairman of Alibaba Group and Founder of the Joe Tsai Foundation. The Chinese Basketball Association serves as the program's official supporting organization. The program aims to cultivate the next generation of Chinese basketball talents who possess well-rounded cultural literacy and a passion for the sport, while also making positive contributions to sports and cultural exchanges between Chinese and international youth. The scholarship program selects eligible adolescents from across the nation who aspire to become outstanding basketball players to study at boarding high schools in the United States. It provides a comprehensive scholarship covering tuition, boarding fees, and other costs throughout their high school studies until graduation. Since its launch in 2019, the scholarship program has received nearly 1,600 applications from 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China. Among these applicants, 28 students have been selected and are pursuing their studies in the U.S. with the support of the scholarship.
【Application Requirements】
1.Citizen of the People's Republic of China (including permanent residents of the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions) with formal student status.
2.Applicants must be between 13 (inclusive) and 15 (inclusive) years old (For the 2026 cohort, applicants must be born between September 1, 2010, and August 31, 2012).
3.Possess a corresponding educational foundation and English language proficiency.
4.Passionate about basketball, have undergone systematic basketball training for over 2 years, and have participated in competitions such as junior high school leagues or U-series tournaments.

3.For basketball videos: each video should not exceed 2 minutes in length, with a maximum of 5 videos allowed. Please indicate jersey color and number in the video file name (e.g., White Jersey - #13).
4.Uploaded transcripts must include all academic years of junior high school (Note: 9th-grade applicants must submit transcripts for all three years; 8th-grade applicants must submit transcripts for both years, and so on). Transcripts must be clear and standardized.
The online application period for the 2026 Joe Tsai Basketball Scholarship is from 00:00 (Beijing Time) on August 11, 2025, to 23:59 (Beijing Time) on October 19, 2025. Applications that are incomplete, contain false information, or are submitted outside this period will not proceed to the next stage.
